The Emerging Legal Technology Forum | Halifax
On October 19, 2017, in association with Law Made, Thomson Reuters hosted the Emerging Legal Technology Forum in Halifax. The event brought together local industry change leaders and practitioners for an interactive session on innovations in legal technology and their impact on the legal industry.
The session was centered on Design Thinking and User Centered solutions. Panelists included
Paul Saunders, Practice Innovation Partner at Stewart McKelvery;
Scott Pickup, Corporate Counsel Irving Shipbuilding;
Jennelle Sobey, Founder of Code + Motar; and
Christopher Fowles, Partner at Torys LLP.
Attendees and panelists discussed how they can improve the ‘user experience’ of the legal system and build a culture of experimentation to reimagine how to work and deliver service to clients. This included using process efficiency tools within firms, mapping content as well as substantive legal information into a digital environment, and supporting lawyers with fully integrated and specialized expertise in essential corporate services.
Design thinking is a method and a way of thinking that is human-centered and is increasingly becoming an expectation in the legal services industry.
