Girls Make Games in Toronto
On Saturday, January 27, girls between the ages of 8 – 16 were invited to participate in the event Girls Make Games. This workshop provides an introduction to game programming, game design, and animation. This was the first Canadian debut of the program, which has already expanded to more than a dozen cities and works to inspire elementary – high school girls to learn game design, programming and entrepreneurship through workshops.
The event held at our Thomson Reuters Customer Centre in Toronto, and was a great success, with nearly 200 participants. As a company Thomson Reuters is dedicated to engaging, educating and empowering girls who are passionate about technology.
Zena Applebaum, Director, Professional Firm & Corporate Segments, Thomson Reuters, who attended the event said, “Sometimes, all it takes is exposure, and that’s why it is so important for me that TR continue to support causes like this one, as a company spurned by innovation, Girls Make Games and the girls it inspires, are the future of technology, the future of gaming and the future of innovation.”
