The present situation is therefore nothing like the story said of Caligula, who directed an important notice be written in a small hand and posted in a dark corner of Rome so it really came to no one’s attention. Nor is this like Douglas Adams’ tale in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where the fictional Vogons claimed that the population of Earth had plenty of notice of its impending destruction to make way for a space bypass because of a notice posted on a different planet.
