It is the practice of the RCMP at the Shellbrook Detachment to make the calls for the accused persons. This is apparently so that they do not call their girlfriends or order a pizza. It is not a practice that should be continued. Accused persons should be allowed to make their own calls in private…If he is phoning for pizza, or phoning to speak to his girlfriend, then he is probably not serious about diligently trying to contact a lawyer for legal advice.
